The narrower new railcars need platform design width to increase by eight inches for bot Eastbound and Westbound platforms to provide clearance for the trains. 22 separate platform locations at 16 Red Line Transit Stations must be modified. At two locations, lengthening the platform will also be required to allow three-car train operations. Platform structure composition varies from cast in place concrete to precast concrete to fiber reinforced polymer decks all of which require differing width modifications. The structural design must account for the condition and age of the varying platforms.

The consultant shall be responsible for final design, bidding services, construction support services to deliver professional, quality, technical accuracy, timely completion, and the coordination of all inspections, survey, investigation, designs, drawings, specifications, and final reports.
